Title : Schecter Damien Special Electric Guitar - Crimson Red
Description :

The Amazon-exclusive Schecter Damien Special in Crimson Red is loaded with features usually not found at this price point. With a Black Pearloid flame inlay, black chrome hardware and EMG active pickups, this is a guitar that looks as great as it sounds.

Features

Grover ROTOMATICS® Tuners with 18:1 Gear Ratio (102-18 series)

The original Rotomatic® with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination.

Rosewood Fingerboard

Rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

EMG Active 81/85 Pickups

One of the most popular EMG’s the 81 is the one that started a revolution. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high end cut and fluid sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position, this pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. When used in both neck and bridge positions the sound can only be described as blistering. Recommended pairings include the classic 81/85 setup.

Maple Neck

Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a mahogany body.

Tune-O-Matic Bridge

With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

1st Customer Review : Awesome quality, good looks and killer price
The quality on this guitar is beautiful. Period. The quilted maple top and black/white binding are stunning, and even the grain and finish on the mahogany back and sides is tight and attractive. My specimin arrived with a near-perfect setup - low action and just a hint of relief in the one piece unfinished neck. The fret ends are perfectly finished and there are no sharp edges anywhere. The hardware feels top-notch and the EMG pickups produce a clean ringing sustain that suits a wide variety of music styles. Even the strings that came on the guitar (Ernie Ball Premium) are fresh and good quality. New guitars in this price range often come with cheap strings that turn your fingertips black, and this was not an issue even after an hour of playing.

The flame inlay on the neck might make a difference to some buyers. While I really like it, it's not exactly conservative. The inlay on mine is a dark/medium gray that looks more like smoke than flames. I'm pretty sure it's 'Mother...

2nd Customer Review : At the year end discounted price? Awesome deal.
I bought this for under $250 in the end of year deal: the first one I got was poorly set up (serious fret buzz on the low e - to the point of unplayability) - I called Schecter and asked what I should do: they promply called back and mentioned it is not an uncommon problem with online retailers; the guitars sit in a warehouse for an undetermined time in less than ideal conditions. He recommended I return it to Amazon and get a new one. And so I did:

The new one arrived - also less than a perfect setup (low E buzz again) - but MUCH better. I'm a fairly new guitar player (own an Epiphone SG and an Ibanes AFS80T) - and this quickly becoming my go-to-guitar for lead hard rock/metal. The active pickups are clean sounding (some might say sterile) - but that's perfect for squealing metal licks. This is a guitar that has a lot of fundamental, with not many overtones - so, warm it ain't, but that's exactly what you want sometimes.

I have no idea why - could be the low...
3rd Customer Review : First Schecter and very surprised.
I just received my Schecter Damien Special today and honestly the quality out of the box blew me away. I jumped at the chance to pick this up for $240. The emg 81/85 combo is a very nice setup (i'm a fan of active pickups) and currently own a ESP viper with 81/85's. This is my first Schecter guitar and it plays and feels very comfortable, not awkward in any aspect. It is a very dark red, pictures don't do it justice. The neck is the perfect thickness, one of the more versatile for the styles of music I play (classic rock, progressive, metal). My Gibson Explorer now feels like the chubby ex-girlfriend after playing this for a couple hours. For the price you would have been hard pressed to find anything better. I honestly like to try all my guitars before I buy but I ended up taking a gamble thanks to Amazon's amazing price. Very satisfied with this guitar.
