1st Customer Review : Best bet at this price
I've owned several basses in the past 6 years, an Ibanez SR400, Fender Jazz bass, Fender P bass, and a Rickenbacker 4003.
Low end of quality spectrum on up to a great piece of gear.
What makes this bass stand out is the quality.
Hands down a best bet for an entry level or even intermediate player.
The neck is thin so smaller hands can easily work the fret-board, which has nice inlays.
The electronics (this is an active bass) are smooth and subtle changes are noticeable.
The finish works well for me, nice burst job and binding.
All I did to the bass was rotate the control knobs slightly (loosen the set screw and removed the knob)so I could judge the amount of volume, pick up blend, bass, and treble.
The sound come through quite well on a 40 watt practice amp and sounds even better on the 250 watt I use with the band.

2nd Customer Review : great value bass if you are able to do the setup yourself
I consider this a budget instrument. It’s easy to pay over $1000 for a fine bass guitar. For about $300 from Amazon (much cheaper than the big online music stores), you’ll get a bass that is good enough to play out with. The action is decent. The tone is good if you are looking for a modern sound. If you want a bluesier, classic rock sound, this isn’t for you. If you want metal, or slap, this works just fine. The tuners work well and are easy to dial in the correct note when tuning. The finish is nice, I am partial to sunburst finishes, this one is pretty. It has a bolt on neck which is typical for the price. When standing and playing, it fits well and is not neck heavy. My other bass is a Thunderbird and is neck heavy, causing it to droop. This droop is not an issue with the Schecter.
This is a good value bass if you’re willing and able to do the set up yourself. It came out of the package unplayable because the strings were laying flat...
