1st Customer Review : This Schecter Shreds
This one is a keeper. I have had my Schecter Tempest Custom in gloss black with gold hardware since February, 2010. The intonation on this guitar is fantastic. The neck is smooth and fast. While the factory Grover tuners were OK, I found I was retuning after every 2 songs or so. So, I put a set of Sperzel locking tunersSperzel 3x3 Gold Plated Locking Machine Heads, which fit very easily into the holes that were already in the head. They look fantastic (see photo above) and my tuning/retuning has gone way down.
For strings, I have been using Optima Golds (24 k gold-plated) that I have been buying overseas (best price, even with shipping - but check the exchange rates).
As far as my strap, I tried a few, but the last one I tried was the best - a Jodi Head Koi in Black and Gold Jodi Head Black Koi Fish 2.5 Silk Brocade w/ Adjustable...

2nd Customer Review : Schecter = Value for your hard earned money!!
I am just a budding guitarist and I wanted to get a guitar under $1000 that had some quality components and had the versatility to play any genre of music as I like to experiment and keep things mixed up. This guitars meets ALL those requirements and is one dead sexy axe. I must have bought in at the ideal time as I was able to to buy the newer 2011 Tempest Custom that comes with the US made Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11/'59 SH-1N unlike the Duncan designed pickups that are offered currently. I don't know how Amazon does it on pricing but I picked this up at $393.00 at Xmas and its not a second or blem model, as I had it professionally set-up and inspected by a local Luthier and said the guitar was in perfect condition!! This baby has a warm sweet tone and makes you want to play all day long...the action is pretty low and the neck is a breeze to play on. It sounds all around amazing. The pickups have a nice warm tone. They can do everything from ripping metal distortion to beautiful cleans. The coil tap is a really cool feature. Everything is awesome. The finish is beautiful.
